Day 1 Muscat
Upon arrival into Muscat, the capital of Oman, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 Muscat
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be able to explore the beauty of a modern Oman that still honors traditional culture. The day will start with a tour of the Grand Mosque, followed by a visit to the Bait Al Zubair museum, which gives a fascinating introduction to Oman’s rich heritage. Next you’ll drive along the breathtaking waterfront Corniche, visiting the Fish Market and the charming Mutrah Souq. Along the way, you can stop for photos at Al Alam Palace, the official palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. Afterward, you will return to your hotel for the night.
Day 3 Nizwa
After an early breakfast, you will set out in air-conditioned comfort for the ancient city of Nizwa along the jagged Hajar mountains. There you will take a guided tour of the 17th century Nizwa Fort, and have the opportunity to explore the area, which includes a charming local souk full of treasures from rugs and pottery to silver Bedouin jewelry. Lastly you’ll be driven a short distance away to Jabreen, home to one of Oman’s most beautiful forts. Decorative wood carvings, along with impressive wall and ceiling paintings make this fort unforgettable. You’ll spend the night in a hotel in Nizwa.
Day 4 Nizwa
Today you will have the opportunity to explore the mountain villages surrounding Nizwa and enjoy the breathtaking Wadi Ghul, known as “Oman’s Grand Canyon,” and the beautiful Wadi Nakheer. Hiking enthusiasts will have an opportunity to explore, while those who prefer a more laid-back experience have the opportunity to park and take in the beauty from different vantage points. After a full day of exploring Oman’s interior, you will return to Muscat in the evening.
Day 5 Khasab
After breakfast you will take a short transfer flight to Khasab, also referred to as the “Norway of Arabia” due to extensive fjord-like inlets and mountainscapes. After settling into your hotel you will have a tour of the city, with a chance to see Khasab Fort, as well as tour the local museum. Afterward you will be given the chance to see the prehistoric cave drawings at Wadi Tawi. You’ll spend the night in Khasab.
Day 6 Khasab
After breakfast at the hotel you’ll be taken on a day-long Dhow (boat) adventure to view the beautiful Omani fjords and splash in the ocean alongside pods of dolphins. Scuba and snorkeling are also available. Lunch will be served on the water, and after a day in the sun and breeze you’ll spend another night in Khasab.
Day 7 Salalah
After breakfast and a brief walk on the beach you’ll be transported to the airport for your transfer to Salalah. Upon arrival in Salalah, you will be greeted and taken to your hotel to relax by the pool.
Day 8 Salalah
After breakfast, you will be driven east to explore the ancient city of Sumhuran, along with the quaint fishing villages of Taqah and Mirbat, and lastly enjoy the serene Wadi Darbat, a perfect location for an afternoon picnic and pictures with the local camels who graze freely along the route this mountain oasis.
Day 9 Salalah
After breakfast, you will be driven to the west of Salalah to visit the sacred tomb of the Prophet Job. Afterward, you will take in the beautiful scenery and white sands of Mughsail Beach and enjoy the “blowholes” of seawater that spout up through the rocks.
Day 10 Empty Quarter
Today you’ll take off from Salalah and enter the Empty Quarter, the longest contiguous sand desert in the world. Experiencing the vastness of this sand sea is exhilarating and refreshing in the comfort of an air-conditioned, 4WD vehicle. Dinner will be cooked over a camp fire, and you’ll be sleeping in a tent under the stars.
Day 11 Salalah
For your last full day in Oman, you’ll wake up with the morning light in the desert and make your way back to Salalah and the sea. Say goodbye to this beautiful country in style by taking a boat into the pristine water surrounding the city and cruising about with pods of dolphins and tropical fish. Snorkeling and Scuba opportunities are also available. You’ll spend your last night in luxury in a hotel in Salalah.
Day 12 Departure
Transport back to Salalah airport, to make your way home.
